The YMCA offers basketball classes for kids ages 3 to 13. These programs start with the basics, helping young players learn the rules, develop coordination, and gain confidence. As they grow, so do their skills. Each class builds on the last, preparing kids for their basketball journey and encouraging a lifelong love of the game.

Good to Know Before You Hit the Court

Our academy programs are designed for a wide range of youth ages. Please check with your specific branch for the current age divisions and training schedules.

No prior experience is necessary! We welcome beginners who want to learn the basics, as well as experienced players looking to take their skills to the next level. Our coaches adapt drills to suit the abilities of the players.

Athletes should wear comfortable athletic clothing and non-marking basketball or athletic shoes. We recommend bringing a water bottle to stay hydrated. Basketballs are provided, but players are welcome to bring their own (please ensure it is clearly labeled with their name).
